Getting Started with Racery

Overview

Racery is a virtual race platform that brings people together through team-based wellness challenges. Whether you are running a company-wide fitness event, a heritage month celebration, or a charity fundraiser, Racery handles the routes, activity tracking, leaderboards, and social engagement so you can focus on your people.

This guide walks you through everything needed to go from zero to a live race in under 30 minutes.

What You Need

  • A Racery account (free to create)
  • A rough idea of your race theme, duration (typically 2-6 weeks), and audience size
  • A list of participant email addresses (or a plan for self-registration)

1. Create Your Account

Visit racery.com and click "Talk with Our Team" or go directly to the race creation page. You will be asked for:

  • Your name and email address
  • Organization name
  • Approximate number of participants

Tip: If your company already has a Racery account, ask your admin to add you as a co-organizer instead of creating a new account.

2. Set Up Your Race

Once your account is active, you can configure your race from the dashboard. The key settings are:

Choose a Virtual Route

Pick from Racery's library of pre-built routes or work with the team to design a custom route. Routes include photos, stories, and milestones that participants unlock as they accumulate miles.

Set the Duration

Most races run 4 to 6 weeks. Shorter sprints (2 weeks) work for quick team events; longer campaigns (8+ weeks) suit year-round wellness programs.

Configure Activity Tracking

Racery supports 80+ activity types (walking, running, yoga, cycling, meditation, strength training, and more). Each activity converts into "race miles" so everyone can contribute regardless of fitness level.

3. Invite Participants

There are two ways to get people into your race:

  • Email invitations: Upload a CSV or enter email addresses. Racery sends branded invitations with a one-click join link.
  • Self-registration link: Share a public URL that lets anyone join. Useful for large organizations or open events.

Organizing Teams

Assign participants to teams by department, office location, ERG, or let them self-select. Teams drive friendly competition through shared leaderboards.

4. Launch & Monitor

When your start date arrives, participants begin logging activities. As a race organizer, you can:

  • Monitor participation rates and team standings on the dashboard
  • Send encouragement messages and shoutouts
  • View photos and comments shared by participants
  • Export analytics reports for leadership
